Jonah Gold

Jonah Gold studies the way image, sound (music), and built environment worked together in the early modern period to propagandistic and didactic ends, especially in Baroque Italy and southern Europe. He holds a BA in art history from the University of Minnesota, where he graduated summa cum laude. His honors thesis, titled “Theatrum Palatii: Pietro da Cortona’s Allegory of Divine Providence as Theatrical Spectacle,” was awarded the art history departmental capstone prize. Jonah has also received research grants to study the representation of witchcraft in early modern art and literature, among other topics. In 2020, he was awarded the Weisberg Curatorial Fellowship from the University of Minnesota, through which he completed an internship at Mia in Minneapolis. He also has experience doing curatorial research and public programming at the Weisman Art Museum, the Museum of Russian Art in Minneapolis, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
