Rachel Hutcheson

Rachel Hutcheson

Rachel studies modern and contemporary art with a focus on photography, video, and installation. Her research interests include histories of technology and perception from the late nineteenth century to the present. Prior to entering the PhD program at Columbia, Rachel was the Assistant Curator and Exhibition Coordinator at the University of Mary Washington Galleries. She completed her M.A. in Contemporary Art History and Theory at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (2013) and BA at Virginia Commonwealth University (2011). Rachel interned for the Society for Contemporary Art at the Art Institute of Chicago and was a curatorial intern of Contemporary Art at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. She was awarded the Core Preceptor Award for Teaching Excellence in 2021.
