Frances Cathryn

Frances Cathryn studies the ways contemporary American culture shapes a common understanding of the past. Her writing is featured in such publications as Frieze, Art Papers, the Los Angeles Review of Books, the Brooklyn Rail, and Social Text journal, among others. Frances has curated projects exhibited at the Center for Photography and the Gallery at Heimbold Visual Arts Center, Sarah Lawrence College. She received a BA in English Literature from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and an MA in Modern and Contemporary Literature from the University of Virginia. In addition to her academic research, Frances is the managing editor of Forging journal and sits on the board of her public library.
