Marjorie Kreynin is a second-year MA student studying Renaissance and Baroque art. She is specifically interested in Spanish and Italian art and the influence of Middle Eastern art and culture on Western art. For her thesis, she will be researching Spanish Renaissance painter Fernando Yañez and his use of Islamic pseudoscrips in his paintings at the beginning of the sixteenth century. In addition to her thesis interests, Marjorie graduated from Columbia with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Art History and is also interested in how exploration outside of Europe led to the formation of the global art market during the Renaissance and Baroque periods.
