The Swedish national museum of architecture and design, ArkDes, has been working for four years on a comprehensive archival research project on the great Swedish architect Sigurd Lewerentz (1885-1975). In September, this culminated in the publication of a major new monograph and an exhibition at ArkDes in Stockholm called Sigurd Lewerentz: Architect of Death and Life. Kieran Long, director of ArkDes, will speak about the archive, the process of understanding Lewerentz’s work from the original documents, and the exhibition, which is the largest ever on a Swedish architect and the largest collections-based exhibition project in the museum’s history.
Kieran Long is the director of ArkDes, Sweden’s national museum of architecture and design, located in Stockholm. He was previously the Keeper of the Department of Design, Architecture and Digital at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, and has been a writer, critic, teacher and curator of architecture and design for more than 20 years.
