Summer Park
Summer (Jimin) Park is a first-year MODA student with an interest in how elements of popular culture and subcultures resonate within contemporary art. She is also interested in exploring how contemporary artists document and memorialize overlooked histories, conflating the personal with the collective and fiction with reality.
Summer graduated magna cum laude in Art History from Georgetown University in 2017. Before joining Columbia, she served as Associate Director of Public Relations at Kukje Gallery in Seoul. In 2022, Summer founded @crakti, an Instagram channel providing exhibition insights and reviews from various cities. She hopes to make the art world more inclusive by translating complex artistic terminology into accessible language, facilitating discourse between academia and the public.
Summer contributes monthly to Hanhwa LIFEPLUS ART, and her writing on art has been featured in publications including W Korea and Marie Claire Korea. In April 2024, she was featured as one of five panelists in Monthly Art Korea’s special issue on “Trends in the Production and Consumption of Art Content.”
