This view into the Judith Lee Stronach Center is the result of a major renovation carried out over the summer of 2009. This transformation of the space formerly occupied by the departmental slide library was funded by a generous bequest from Judith Lee Stronach ('69 MA) and designed by Professor Francesco Benelli and doctoral candidate Carolyn Yerkes.
The Stronach Center was inaugurated on October 12, 2009. Over the course of the 2009-2010 academic year the Center became the heart of the Department of Art History and Archaeology. Graduate students gather informally to relax or study in the handsome social space, where receptions after lectures and departmental parties also take place.
At the opposite, quieter end of the Stronach Center area is a computer lab for use by graduate students and offices for graduate instructors to meet with their undergraduate advisees. The department's Media Center also is located in the Stronach Center, facing Amsterdam Avenue.
